Taylor Even, 21, is from Jesup, Iowa. She graduated from Don Bosco High School in 2011 and went on to attend Hawkeye Community College obtaining a Liberal Arts AA Degree. Currently, Taylor has a year off from school and plans to start the Respiratory Therapy program in the summer of 2015. After graduating from Hawkeye Community College she hopes to utilize her Respiratory Therapy degree and work at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Taylor is the oldest of two daughters to Troy and Kelli Even. She has one younger sister, Tori. The Miss Iowa USA Pageant for 2015 was Taylor’s third time competing in the pageant; she credits her success to never giving up and always trying your best along with the love and support of her family and friends. Being a state USA titleholder became a dream of hers just four short years ago when she first competed in the Miss Iowa USA 2012 Pageant where she placed 2nd Runner-Up. Taylor says that her family has always stood behind her, encouraging her to pursue her dreams and to never give up. Her family members, in some way, have motivated Taylor throughout her journey leading up to the state pageant, and she is sure they will do the same on the road to Miss USA.
In Taylor’s spare time she enjoys staying active. Some of her favorite activities such as a good kickboxing workout or bike ride enable her to refocus her mind. However, she also enjoys boating, jet skiing, and cheering on her sister and cousins in their sporting events. Taylor can also be found relaxing, and spending time with family and friends.
Getting involved in the community has always been a part of Taylor’s life. Taylor has volunteered at parish breakfasts, funeral dinners, weekly masses, Catholic Worker House, and Up with Families to name a few. Taylor is eager to work with other organizations that will allow her to give back and inspire others to pursue their hopes and dreams through organizations such as the Make a Wish Foundation, Best Buddies, Special Olympics and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Taylor is excited and ready to represent the state of Iowa at the 2015 Miss USA pageant. Her motto is, “believe in yourself and never give up and your dreams will come true,” so with that said she is ready to be an example to others as Miss Iowa USA 2015.
